We’re pleased to share a final recap of the latest Scarf updates for December and 2023 as a whole.
Scarf’s platform has grown significantly and we’ve been working hard to keep up with the scale increase. Since January, the number of monthly unique downloaders of artifacts on Scarf has grown by 5x and the total volume of artifact downloads has increased by 2.5x!
Introducing OQL (Open Source Qualified Leads) scoring!
Two weeks ago, we introduced Open Source Qualified Leads (OQLs) as a novel approach to quantifying open source adoption and the user journey. Evaluating the usage of open source software at scale is a daunting task, given the challenges of traditional conversion funnels. Unlike Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs) and Sales Qualified Leads (SQLs), which often fall short in capturing open-source nuances, Open Source Qualified Leads (OQLs) provide a comprehensive and practical solution. By analyzing software usage behaviors and incorporating signals like package downloads, telemetry, and documentation usage, OQLs offer a comprehensive view of a user's open source journey.

Product Updates:
As we wrap up the year, we’re thrilled to present a collection of improvements and features that will enhance your experience with Scarf Gateway. Here's a snapshot of the latest updates:
- Open Source Qualified Leads features
- Recommended Sort on the Company Table
- Company Journey with the Lead Funnel
- Addition of Company Funnel Stages
- Importance for Packages and Pixels
- Infrastructure enhancements resulting in up to 60% reduction in download times for proxied container downloads:
In general, Scarf Gateway redirects traffic for container downloads but in some cases, traffic must be proxied, meaning Scarf is directly in the data transfer path. Serving containers to millions of users, 89% of the Fortune 500, and mission-critical workloads around the world means we need to serve those downloads very quickly and reliably.
We’ve also released performance improvements for raw data export, app load load times, and general infrastructure reliability.
- We’ve simplified how we report Scarf’s confidence rating for any given company match.
