Scarf’s mission is to empower our users with insights on how their software is being used.
Our core service lets you identify which companies are viewing your documents, downloading your packages or executing your software, we call these Monthly Tracked Companies (MTCs). The foundation of Scarf company tracking is IP Address attribution. Our Company Tracking algorithm considers confidence and reputation scores from multiple sources to provide what we believe to be the best matching data in the industry. Despite our confidence, “best” still isn’t perfect. We are tracking individual endpoints, but understand that IP addresses can change assignment or be shared by multiple users or companies, that means matches Scarf provides might not always be 100% accurate. That’s why we’re excited to introduce our newest feature: Match Feedback!
What Is Match Feedback?
In a nutshell, Match Feedback allows you to fix and fine-tune your company matches. Whether an event (like a document view or package download) is correctly attributed to a company or not, you now have the power to say, “Yes, this is correct,” or, “Nope, try again.”
With Match Feedback, you can:
- Remove companies that shouldn't appear
- Correct misattributed downloads or views
We’re putting control back into your hands, so your data reflects what’s happening in the real world!
Match Feedback In Action
You can submit three types of feedback:
- Negative: If a company match is wrong, mark it as negative. These matches won’t show up again for future events.
- Positive: If you know a match is right but not showing, submit positive feedback. This helps Scarf improve and build an even more accurate IP database just for you!
- Neutral: Mistakes happen! If you want to undo feedback, submit neutral feedback to reset things back to normal.

What’s Coming Next?
Match Feedback is just the beginning! We’re already cooking up more features, including:
- Positive Match Feedback at the IP-Level: Correct individual events more precisely.
- Match Feedback Comments: Want to explain why you submitted feedback? Add comments to make your feedback even more actionable.
- Global Feedback: Admins will soon be able to apply feedback globally across all customers.
