Why Scarf?
Our belief is that by providing visibility and insights, we can help the open source ecosystem better understand the impact of its work, operate more efficiently, and ultimately provide better software to users. The underlying mission is to create a more sustainable ecosystem where open source projects can continue to thrive and innovate.
LF projects such as Linkerd, Fluent Bit, Dapr, Flyte, and Falco (amongst others) are already benefiting from working with Scarf.
Scarf and The Linux Foundation
The Linux Foundation (LF) hosts over 900 open source projects supported by contributors from over 17,000 companies, making it one of the world's largest open source software foundations.
In its effort to protect the open source projects in the foundation, the LF is selective with its partnerships; so we were proud when we successfully underwent their stringent procurement process, especially with respect to the security and privacy standards. Acceptance also serves as another tangible proof-point of Scarf’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding user privacy and aligns with the highest standards of security and data protection.
Scarf has built analytics tools from the ground up with privacy and anonymization in mind from the beginning. This has been especially crucial for ushering analytics and data-driven practices to the open source world, which has historically been highly averse to these kinds of approaches.
Offer from Scarf
Any LF project maintainer can use Scarf without needing any further approval from the foundation. Scarf is offering all LF projects free accounts with a few additional features over our base free version. LF projects will get usage data like docs, downloads, and page views with unlimited free seat licenses and data retention.
