As 2024 wraps up, we’ve been reflecting on everything that wouldn’t have been possible without the Scarf community and our amazing customers. It’s been a big year for Scarf—and for the open source projects we’re proud to support.
Here’s a look back at what we built together this year and what’s ahead for 2025:
Finding the data you need has never been easier
We introduced Advanced Filtering to help you slice and dice your Scarf data exactly the way you need it. Want to see which Global 2000 companies are actively using your project? Want to clean up your data and cut out bot traffic? Done and done.
And because good data is better when shared, you can also save, name, and share filters across your team, so everyone’s working with the same view. That way, every team gets the view that matters most to them—whether it’s marketing, sales, or engineering—while staying aligned on the bigger picture.
You can try it out right now in your Scarf account here.

Integrations
Scarf + Salesforce: pair open source usage data and sales intelligence
By popular demand, this year we built a native integration with Salesforce. Now, you can pair all that useful Scarf data—who’s viewing your documentation, who’s downloading your packages—with Salesforce data. Combine your open source usage data with the rest of your sales intelligence for a clearer picture of your accounts.

Scarf + Common Room: better together
This year, we joined Common Room’s Signal Partners program, a game-changer for our customers.
Connecting Scarf’s open source usage data with Common Room allows you to track your users’ intent signals across the board, whether they’re exploring your GitHub repo, reading docs, or interacting on Slack. Together, Scarf and Common Room help you see the bigger picture so you can understand user intent in ways that really matter.

Track more companies with Scarf–on your terms
Need to see more of what’s happening with your project? Now you can add more Monthly Tracked Companies (MTCs) to your Scarf account directly from the app.
To add more MTCs:
1. Go to Settings
2. Under Overview > Billing & Subscription, click Upgrade MTC.
3. Set the number of MTCs you’d like to add. You can add up to 250 MTCs on your own.
4. Add a payment method, and you’re all set!
Want to dive deeper into what qualifies as an MTC? Learn more in our documentation.
Big steps in security: SOC 2 Type 2 examination completed
Trust is everything, especially when it comes to data. That’s why we’re so proud to have completed our SOC 2 Type 2 examination this year. This type of evaluation takes months of review to make sure that we’ve got our act together when it comes to security, availability, and confidentiality.
For companies and organizations that rely on Scarf, this examination is a solid proof that we’re committed to handling data responsibly and securely.

Introducing scarf-py—Telemetry made simple for Python projects
We’ve launched scarf-py, a Python client for sending telemetry events to Scarf. You can check it out here.
scarf-py is an easy way to track open source usage data and better understand your open source adoption funnel—helping you see how users move from first interest to ongoing engagement.
A year of conversations about open source usage data

We hosted two Scarf Summits this year, and the conversations blew us away.
In July, we were joined by Max Beauchemin, creator of Apache Superset and Founder/CEO of Preset, and Evan Rusackas, Preset Developer Advocate. They shared how their team uses Scarf to gain visibility into Superset’s adoption while respecting their community’s expectations as part of the Apache Software Foundation. They also talked about the role this data plays in a growing project and community.
In December, we welcomed Kevin White, Head of Marketing at Common Room, and Soham Maniar, Director of RevOps at Weaviate. Kevin shared how combining Scarf’s open source data with Common Room’s engagement signals helps teams identify buying intent and drive focused outreach. Soham highlighted how Scarf’s data has transformed Weaviate’s revenue operations, allowing them to prioritize accounts and scale enterprise adoption based on real usage signals.
Missed the events? Don’t worry—you can still catch the recordings.
We’re hiring an Account Executive!
We’re growing and looking for our first Account Executive to help shape our sales strategy and drive Scarf’s next stage of growth. If you’re passionate about open source, tech sales, and working closely with early-stage startups, we’d love to chat.
Scarf is a fully remote team focused on helping open source projects succeed with better data. If this sounds like your kind of role, check out the details and apply here.
Looking ahead to 2025
2024 was a big year, but we’re not slowing down.
The number of companies relying on Scarf’s data is growing exponentially, and with that growth comes an even deeper commitment—to the open source community and to providing the most accurate, actionable data available.
We’re already working on new features, tools, and content that helps you put those insights to work, so you can drive growth, engagement, and impact for your projects.
To our customers, users, and everyone in the open source community who has trusted us this year—thank you. Your support and feedback fuel everything we do.
Here’s to what we’ll build together next year.
