Introducing Scarf's New Pricing Model
Today we are launching a new pricing model for new Scarf accounts going forward, and we'd love your feedback. For customers already on a paid Scarf plan, your billing will not be impacted by this change.
Today we are launching a new (and still in-progress) pricing model for new Scarf accounts going forward, and we’d love your feedback. For customers already on a paid Scarf plan, your billing will not be impacted by this change. We will be reaching out to you individually in the coming months to discuss how the new model compares to your current billing and what options are available for transitioning if you want to switch.
Motivation
We’re aiming to solve a few issues with our current pricing:
- Monthly Tracked Companies (MTC) has proven too complicated and confusing, as it’s unclear which companies will be surfaced and when they will fall out of your tracked company set. The current MTC model also doesn’t allow for fine-grained targeting of which companies you want to track, which has been a common frustration and limits the value of a given purchase.
- Seat-based pricing is generally disliked and also doesn’t map to a world where customers are increasingly having their AI agents get work done on their behalf. It’s critical for us to adapt to how work is getting done on the platform.
- Billing primarily on MTCs misses the value for use-cases that are less focused on company data.
- The self-serve onboard to a paid Scarf plan is too rigid.
Our pricing philosophy
- Value-based: We want billing to scale with the value we provide to you, and we want your ROI to increase the more you use the platform.
- Predictable: You know what your costs will be in advance, and you’ll never get a bill that comes as a surprise or goes above your intended budget.
- Flexible: Whatever your budget is, we will find a way to work with you. The barrier to entry should be minimal.
- Pricing is always an iterative work-in-progress. Like everything in the startup world, we are optimizing for speed of iteration so we can get to a better model faster. We understand we will make mistakes and not get everything right.
Our New model
We will now have two primary units of pre-committed consumption: Company Unlocks and Runs
Company Unlocks are a one-time purchase to expose all insights for a specific company for 1 month. No more complicated eviction rules, MTC sets, etc. Just buy access to the companies you care about and get all the data for them.
Runs are a unit of compute that can be used for getting work done on Scarf. Each triggered export, notification, webhook, public API query, AI answer, etc. is 1 run. Basic dashboard actions are not counted as a run.
No more hard-to-understand tracked company sets. No more seat license fees that get in your way.

Feeds and exports
Raw data feeds, and other integrations are still not available in our self-serve offering yet, but are available as a contract-based add-on for enterprise customers. Event-level data will be available for unlocked companies on all plans.
Plan updates
Today’s Starter, Basic, and Premium tiers of Scarf have been reframed in terms of Company Unlocks and Runs. Each tier provides discounts on the included consumption compared to buying the consumption on a monthly plan.
We need your input!
Pricing is a part of our product that we are always improving on. Customer feedback is how we identified issues with our previous model that we are working to address here. We do not expect this new model to be perfect either, but we’re excited to see how this better enables customers to get started with Scarf and scale in a way that better maps to the value they get from the platform.
We’d love your feedback on this new model, and we’re happy to answer any questions you have about how it works or how it compares to your current billing. Please feel free to reach out to us directly or schedule some time to chat if you’d like to discuss further.
For more information about the new pricing and plans, see our pricing page.
Scarf Go SDK is Now Available
Scarf's Go SDK is now available on GitHub. You can now send telemetry to Scarf from your Golang code more easily than ever, with things like user opt-out being managed for you.
Scarf's GitBook Integration Is Live!
A common request we've received from the Scarf community is that many of you are using GitBook for your docs, which does not directly support a way to embed your Scarf tracking pixel.
Scarf AI Public Beta
We often talk about the power of open source usage data, but anyone who has worked with any analytics tools knows that data is not particularly useful on its own. Understanding what insights to care about, what is actionable, and how to solve day-to-day business problems with data can sometimes just be a lot of work -- whether that's manual analysis, building automations, or even just remembering to look at the insights regularly. We've heard the feedback on where Scarf users are spending too much of their time and where they can be made more efficient. Fortunately, most of the common problems are where precisely AI assistance shines the brightest.
