Description

Scarf's mission is to support open-source developers and the companies that rely on their work. We provide tools for open-source projects to better understand their software's usage, and connect the projects to their commercial users in ways that benefit both parties. Scarf is hiring a Head of Sales to lead our commercialization strategy. You’ll report directly to the CEO and will be responsible for building Scarf’s early sales & go-to-market processes Initially joining to help build and execute on the early pipeline, you’ll also be tapped to build a team as Scarf’s customer base grows.

You might find yourself:

  • Developing Scarf's strategy of brokering support agreements between OSS projects and commercial users
  • Identifying and analyzing new business opportunities for Scarf
  • Driving the strategy and leading negotiations across Scarf's offerings, creating new commercial models that support both sides of OSS usage and development
  • Solving commercialization challenges for existing OSS projects

We're looking for someone who has:

  • 5+ years experience in business development and/or enterprise B2B sales
  • Strong negotiation skills, especially around enterprise software vendor relationships
  • An existing network of contacts of decision-makers at OSS-using businesses of various sizes
  • Expertise in commercial software and support pricing
  • General knowledge of modern software development practices
  • An ability to turn customer feedback into product recommendations for engineering
  • A love of working in a dynamic start-up environment

We're in the very early stages. Nothing is set in stone and every part of our culture and company is yours to help shape. We're a fully remote team distributed across the west-cost of the US. Working with us means autonomy and flexibility. We like to have some overlap in our work hours as a team, but otherwise your schedule is up to you. Due to our distributed nature, we have a strong focus on clear communication. As part of our team, your written communication skills (largely chat-based) will be crucial, though we tend to jump on video calls regularly too. We strive to foster open and concise communication that is direct yet always empathetic.
